Hatha Yoga with Caroline Dickson
The class welcomes those completely new to yoga as well as those who have been practising for years, and offers a balanced, general hatha yoga practise. It includes a lengthy warm up stretch, followed by asanas/postures and finishing with a guided relaxation. I like to help students in and out of postures with clear, precise instructions and light adjustments, and focus on the connection of movement with the breath. Expect a lighthearted, gentle class with plenty of opportunity to challenge yourself too.
Please give me a ring/text if you have any questions or would like to book a place.

Hello, I teach Hatha yoga at the Calderdale Yoga Centre and have taught here in the valley since 2001.
Originally qualifying in Sivananda yoga in 1998 I furthered my training with Anne-Marie Zulkahari in Kilburn, London. She introduced me to the Scaravelli style of yoga which still influences my teaching today.

How to begin and make progress in meditation with Mike Garside
Meditation is a method for making our mind peaceful and positive. There are many different kinds of meditation, and on this four week course we will learn a variety of different meditation techniques, all drawn from the Buddhist tradition. We will look at and practise breathing meditations for calming our mind and relaxing our body; meditations for developing a loving and compassionate heart; meditations to help us become aware of our own mind and let go of negativity; and visualization practices. Each meditation will be introduced, guided, and then practised in silence. The aim of the course is to become familiar enough with a variety of meditation techniques so that we have a meditation toolkit at our disposal to apply whenever we need it. This course is aimed mainly at beginners but also as a refresher for those who already have a meditation practice. If there is sufficient interest we will continue with regular meditation classes after the summer break.

I’d tried many yoga classes over the years, but when I first went to an ashtanga class in Rishikesh, North India in 1999, I knew that this was the style for me. Unbeknown to me, those two weeks of practice would change the direction of my life.
